Researchers sometimes need very specialized material which is not always relevant to other users, expensive or impractical to purchase. Therefore the library provides the ILL service to enable users to have access to materials at other institutions in southern Africa and worldwide. Although this is not a substitute for acquiring and developing the library's collection, it is a supporting service to enhance the collection when it fails to meet those needs on specific occasions.
• Books:
Books can be requested free of charge if requested from a Namibian library. N$15.00 is charged per book from southern African libraries. Books on loan from southern African libraries usually have a loan period of 1 month. Renewals can be requested from supplying libraries. Distance students' ILL requests should be done through the Distance Centre Heads.
